Summer blockbusters, the Marvel Studios v. DC Studios debate is back, we finally got the finale of Stranger Things (2016-2025), and Prime Video’s Fallout (2024- ) was the hottest holiday gift.
Film and TV fans had no shortage of media to watch in 2025. But what stood out, and what should we pay attention to next year? Here’s our team’s take on what’s worth watching.

Movie of the Year: Sinners (2025)
I went into my viewing of Sinners this year with little to no context about the plot, other than it was a vampire film starring Michael B. Jordan and directed by Ryan Coogler. Though I had no expectations, after a year’s worth of viewing, I hold no hesitation in saying it was by far the best film I saw in the theater this year.
Jordan gives perhaps one of his best performances yet, and not a single member of the cast disappoints. Regardless of what genre you tend to gravitate towards, Sinners is one of those rare movies that can grab your attention regardless of what you think you’ll enjoy, though we highly recommend having the kids sit this one out.
Jordan and Coogler make for a great duo that I hope we’ll see more of in years to come.
Most Anticipated Film of 2026: Avengers: Doomsday (2026)
The much-anticipated release of Avengers: Doomsday (2026) is going to do one of two things: it will either reignite the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) or be the final nail in its coffin.
If you’ve been following some of my latest reviews, many of the most recent Marvel projects have been lackluster and simply done poorly, which is coming at a terrible time as James Gunn’s DC Studios is really heating up.
If Marvel wants any shot at redemption, they better have splurged on the best writers and graphic artists. The star-studded cast alone, including many familiar names and faces like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, Patrick Stewart, Sebastian Stan, and others, will not be enough to save the day if everything else falls apart.

TV Show of the Year: Peacemaker (2022- )
This year saw the second season drop from the mind of James Gunn. The series as a whole has been a nice addition to the DC Universe, standing as probably the most dramatic contrast to the MCU. The show has a brilliant cast and a refreshing storyline that uses far more mature content to tell the story of Christopher Smith as his alter ego, Peacemaker, played by none other than John Cena.
If you are a fan of superheroes, you’ll be more than pleased with this show if you have been looking for something with a bit more crude humor and violence to boot.
Most Anticipated Film of 2026: The Odyssey (2026)
Christopher Nolan’s latest project is slated to release next year, telling the classic Greek tragedy of Odysseus, played by Matt Damon, as he travels home following the Trojan War. The cast includes Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Mia Goth, Ryan Hurst, James Remar, and Tom Holland, just to name a few.
It is going to be a bit of a wait, as it is not scheduled to release until July of next year but it has already become one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
